THE BENEFITS OF MUSIC AND MOVEMENT FOR YOUNG CHILDREN

Music and movement allows children to boost their self confidence, independence, social and emotional skills and self control. Students develop a wider vocabulary and knowledge of story structures. Music ignites all areas of child development and skills for school readiness, particularly in the areas of language and reading skills. Learning to play a musical instrument can improve mathematical learning, and even increases critical thinking and problem solving skills.

In our classes we emphasize creative expression through group singing, singalongs, learning rudimentary rhythm and repeating beat patterns, call and response,  ensemble work and challenging movement activities that build skills children need in order to create music with a group. Students gain increased attention, focus, memory and social skills including cooperative play and community building. But most of all fun!

MINDFUL MUSIC CLASS FOR CAREGIVER AND CHILD

Mindful music classes are classes that incorporate music and mindfulness practices for young children and their caregivers. These classes aim to create a nurturing and supportive environment where young children can explore and experience different sounds and rhythms while developing their cognitive, emotional, and social skills.

During these classes, caregivers and their child participate in activities such as singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, and practicing mindfulness exercises such as breathing and body awareness. These activities can help kids develop their sensory and motor skills, as well as their language and communication abilities.

The classes also aim to promote bonding and connection between caregivers and their children, as they engage in shared musical experiences and mindfulness practices together. This can help to strengthen the parent-child relationship and support the child’s emotional development.
