Preschool Ukulele Class @ Turtle Rock

Service Description

This is a group class - beginner ukulele course for young kids ages 4-6 years old. This is a low pressure class with lots of encouragement and fun. We will learn in small groups. (6) Recurring class dates on Fridays April 12th, 19th, 26th, 3rd, 10th & May 17th Time: TBD In this class we will focus on: Making music (with and without the ukulele), Names of the strings (G C E A), Identifying parts of a ukulele Learn how to keep a steady beat while strumming or picking Practice playing in unison Learn how to play a C-Chord and play some classic kids songs Practice strumming the ukulele keeping a steady beat Have fun playing 'slow' and 'fast' Identifying and count the frets Identifying finger numbers, string numbers and fret numbers Learning basic terminology Goals: Building strength and dexterity in fingers, wrists and arms Developing basic technique and proper form Build confidence to play in a group and solo Practicing turn-taking and waiting for one another Practice performing in front of others Working as a team/playing as an ensemble Collaborating and showing appreciation for other players in the group Families will be required to provide: Ukulele* Gig Bag* Strap* Tuner (optional) Extra Strings (optional) Picks (optional) Ukuleles can cost anywhere between $40-$100 depending on the brand. You can purchase a ukulele starter kit which contains all of these tools. You can find them at your nearest music store or online. Please contact me if you need suggestions.
